When you think of Southern cuisine, flavors that burst with personality and charm often come to mind. But while rich dishes can be comforting, they don’t always align with healthy eating. That’s where these scrumptious baked shrimp burger sliders come in! Packed with flavor and a healthy twist, they’re perfect for a casual family dinner, a gathering with friends, or even game day festivities. When you make them you will quickly realize how craveable they are!
Why Shrimp?
Shrimp is a fantastic choice for a light yet satisfying meal. It’s low in calories, high in protein, and rich in essential nutrients like selenium and vitamin B12. Plus, it cooks quickly, making it perfect for busy weeknights or spontaneous get-togethers.
The Perfect Blend of Flavors
These sliders combine the sweetness of shrimp with the zest of Southern spices, creating a harmonious flavor profile that will have everyone reaching for seconds. Here’s how to make these delightful sliders:
Ingredients
For the Shrimp Burgers:
- 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1.5 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- Juice and zest of 1 lime
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (or your favorite seafood seasoning)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 tablespoon Siracha (or your favorite hot sauce)
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp Mixture: Steam the shrimp, peel, and coarsely chop shrimp. In a large bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, and all ingredients. Mix until just combined. Place bowl in refrigerator for 20 minutes to chill.
- Form the Patties: Shape the mixture into small patties, about the size of a slider bun. You should yield around 9 patties.
- Cook the Patties: Heat oven to 425 degrees. Place patties on cookie sheet, cook 15 minute on each side or until golden brown.
To add a little something extra, I like to add a Lime Aioli Sauce to each side of the bun. Many of the same flavor profiles from the shrimp burger slides are included in the lime aioli sauce. This makes it pair nicely together!
Ingredients
Lime Aioli Sauce:
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- juice of 1 lime
- 1 clove fresh minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon Siracha (or favorite hot sauce)
- salt and pepper to taste
